Safety footwear to ensure dry feet even under extreme conditions
As soon as our feet get too hot, too cold or even wet, we start to feel uncomfortable. This can cause problems to our health, including an increased susceptibility to winter illnesses such as colds. Choosing the right footwear can help keep your feet healthy as well as helping to keep your body safe from injury. Safety shoes and boots made using highly breathable and 100% waterproof GORE-TEX® membrane are able to keep feet dry and provide a truly comfortable climate for our feet in all weather conditions.
Every square centimetre of GORE-TEX® membrane contains around 1.4 billion micro-pores, each with a diameter 20.000 times smaller than a water droplet, but 700 time larger than a water vapour molecule. This allows water vapour to be transported away from the foot while also preventing water from penetrating the shoe when working in wet outdoor environments. This is essential when we consider we produce up to 250ml of perspiration per day when doing physically demanding work!
Lightweight approx. 30 – 35 g/m2
Universally chemical-resistant from pH 0 to pH 14
Can withstand temperatures from –250°C to +250°C
Crease and flex resistant even under severe mechanical stress and at extreme sub-zero temperatures.
GORE-TEX® membrane is a synthetic material free of gas emissions and contains no plasticizers and no heavy metals.
PTFE (= PolyTetraFluorEthylene) is 100% chlorine-free and therefore has no association with CFCs and dioxins.
Extremely robust, even in wet conditions
GORE-TEX® lining blocks water penetration and allows perspiration to evaporate, increasing comfort and foot hygiene.
The GORE-TEX® membrane is hydrophobic, i.e. permanently water-repellent. Hydrophobic materials avoid any wicking when feet are stood in water. There is an enormous difference in the surface tension of the membrane and the water so that a water droplet becomes spherical on the surface of the membrane. The size and spherical shape of the water droplet, along with the membrane's micro-porous structure, prevent rain and standing water penetrating.
Breathability refers to how well a fabric lets your sweat escape in the form of moisture vapour. GORE-TEX® standards require that during heavy exertion, fabrics must breathe well enough to allow sweat to evaporate easily. This breathability leads to more comfortable and drier skin, even during high exertion.
