uvex Joins Forces with Harrisons to Provide Fit2Fit Face Fit Testing and Training, Ensuring an Unrivalled Service

uvex safety is delighted to announce its brand-new partnership with Harrisons, the renowned experts in face-fit testing and respiratory training.

Harrisons offers UK-wide professional Accredited Fit2Fit Face Fit Testing as well as highly effective workplace training on the correct use and wearing of respiratory protective equipment (RPE). Both are vital to ensure the right mask is identified for an individual’s facial features and that an effective seal is established to ensure it provides adequate protection.

It is estimated that up to 50% of RPE does not do the job it is meant to due to poorly fitted equipment. People come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, and it is unlikely that one particular type or size of RPE facepiece will fit everyone. Fit testing will ensure that the equipment selected is suitable for the wearer, something that is even more vital in today’s Covid-19 environment, as RPE must be fitted and worn properly every single time it is used.

Fit testing by a competent person of tight-fitting respiratory protection is a legal requirement under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH) and should also be a matter of good practice.

The Fit2Fit (Fit Test Providers Accreditation Scheme) was launched by the British Safety Industry Federation (BSIF) and HSE in 2009 to raise the quality of fit-testing in the UK and significantly reduce the incidence of occupational respiratory injury from poor-fitting respirators. It confirms the competency of any person performing facepiece fit testing.
