WEARABILITY - The key to safety footwear compliance

At uvex we know the best PPE is the PPE that is worn - which is why we design WEARABILITY into every safety footwear product we make. But what do we mean by that? WEARABILITY = Compliance. It’s PPE that doesn’t get in the way allowing you to focus on the task at hand. Ultimately, it’s the perfect balance of four main factors:

Fit

Fit

Proper fit
Properly-fitting footwear can make a significant difference to comfort, concentration levels and the avoidance of accidents. In addition to ergonomic design, features such as adaptive fit insoles that increase or decrease the space within the footwear can create a customised fit for enhanced comfort.

Comfort

Comfort

All day comfort
Ergonomically designed footwear that supports the foots bone structure and natural rolling motion together with lightweight materials, temperature regulation, sweat management, shock absorption and cushioning all play an important role in ensuring footwear remains comfortable throughout the working day.

Performance

Performance

Product performance
We understand that the design and quality of materials all have a bearing on wearer experience, in terms of slip resistance, protection and durability. It’s estimated that you’ll walk approximately 115,000 miles during your lifetime (equivalent to circling the globe 6 times!) so its essential that your footwear can perform accordingly.

Style

Style

Modern style
Footwear that is high performing, comfortable and stylish makes wearing PPE effortless. As a result, safety footwear is more likely to remain where it should throughout the day and employees remain compliant. Remember, workers are more likely to wear, and take care of, superior products, avoiding the problem of non-compliance.

Properly fitting footwear

The best safety footwear should be supple, allowing freedom of movement without discomfort when walking or kneeling and comfortable enough to wear all day. Properly-fitting footwear can make a significant difference to comfort, concentration levels and the avoidance of accidents. In addition to ergonomic design, features such as adaptive fit insoles that increase or decrease the space within the footwear can create a customised fit for enhanced comfort.

Customised width fitting

uvex multiple fit system insoles change the dimensions inside your safety footwear. Width 10 is a thicker insole, reducing space inside the footwear for a narrower fit, while width 12 is a thinner insole increasing space inside the shoe for a wider fit.

Designed for the female foot

Many of our safety footwear styles have been produced using a ladies’ last to mimic the contours of a female foot. Women have a lighter bone weight, with softer and more flexible joints requiring safety footwear that has been manufactured specifically for the shape of the female foot.

Ergonomic design

Compact anatomical designs with good side and ankle support, along with tread patterns that are designed to mimic and support the natural flow of movement from heel to tee – provide stability and eliminate conflict between the wearer's natural movement and the design of the footwear.

Innovative features for comfortable protection

Comfort is extremely important for wellbeing. If the climate of a shoe is optimised so that the strain felt by the wearer is as low as possible or even totally removed, this reduces the mental pressure of being uncomfortable and therefore, reduces fatigue. Ergonomically designed footwear that supports the foot's bone structure and natural rolling motion, together with lightweight materials, temperature regulation, sweat management, shock absorption and cushioning. all play an important role in ensuring footwear remains comfortable throughout the working day. The lighter the footwear and the greater the shock absorption, the less hard the muscles in the foot, leg and back must work, reducing strain and allowing performance to be maintained for longer.

Lightweight construction

A lower weight reduces the strain on the body and also reduces risk of injury and wear. Low weight safety footwear also requires less effort from our muscles with each step and lessens the onset of fatigue, allowing performance to be maintained for longer.

Energy return

uvex i-PUREnrj technology offers increased stability, very high levels of shock absorption as well as energy-return. The recovered landing energy over the entire sole unit is returned to the wearer providing a boost of energy, greater comfort and significantly lower fatigue in the legs and feet.

Innovative climate management

Effective temperature control is particularly important in the field of safety footwear. We have combined our expertise in research and product development with the use of intelligent materials and processing technologies to develop a unique range of climate-optimising safety footwear.

High performing products

Designed with safety in mind, protective footwear from uvex features slip-resistant soles, anti-twist protection, breathable upper and lining materials, all with comfort at the forefront of the designs. We understand that the design and quality of materials appropriate for the intended environment of use all have a bearing on the wearer experience in terms of comfort, slip resistance, protection and durability.

uvex x-dry knit

The unique uvex x-dry knit technology offers unparalleled levels of comfort and keeps feet dry. This is made possible by the intelligent combination of outstanding breathability and the water-repelling characteristics of the innovative uvex x-dry knit knitted collar. Hot, sweaty feet are a thing of the past.

uvex x-tended grip

The uvex x-tended grip technology, based on the latest-generation TPU outsole, guarantees even greater performance in terms of abrasion resistance of the sole and slip resistance on smooth or wet surfaces. The result? Greater safety and stability for the wearer when walking.

uvex waterstop technology

uvex waterstop technology is designed to keep feet dry and it’s performance lasts four times longer than that required by the standard for S3 safety footwear - that states footwear must be water-resistant to achieve this rating.

Style meets comfort and safety meets design

uvex recognises the relationship between functional ergonomics and sensory aesthetics. The best designs are those that combine these disciplines, providing practical solutions in styles that excite the wearer. uvex have styles to suit a wide range of applications including lightweight trainers, water-resistant boots, lace-up ankle boots and white hygiene shoes. Our footwear development team work hard to ensure that each model has been designed with four key elements in mind: WEARABILITY for optimal protection, fit and comfort; quality to ensure optimal cost-in-use; and last but not least, sustainability, so wearers can protect both themselves and the planet.

WEARABILITY across all product groups

WEARABILITY in safety eyewear

Simply wearing any old pair of safety eyewear isn’t enough to protect your eyes. We design and manufacture a range of styles, sizes, lens tints, lens coatings and colours to ensure wearers derive true WEARABILITY from uvex safety eyewear.

WEARABILITY in safety gloves

An ill-fitting glove can be as much a hazard as not wearing any at all. We design and select materials that provide protective properties, grip, dexterity, comfort and fit to ensure wearers derive true WEARABILITY from uvex safety gloves.

WEARABILITY in prescription safety eyewear

Facial shapes all differ requiring a range from which employees can select. We have developed frames with adjustable features and striking designs, offering the best possible protection in the workplace.

WEARABILITY in head protection

Poorly fitted head protection is not only uncomfortable, but also won’t offer the right level of protection. We design and manufacture a range of styles and sizes to ensure wearers derive true WEARABILITY from uvex head protection.
